Sagamore’s Amy Sherman is a senior advisor to the International Justice Mission. At an event at Sagamore on June 24, 2013, Dr. Sherman hosted bestselling author Corbin Addison whose novel, A Walk Across the Sun, narrated the plight of young women attempting to survive Mumbai’s infamous brothels. This story illuminates the crisis of modern day slavery that encompasses the globe.
Addison spoke from his investigative experience on the ground in India as well as the United States. His writing was so gripping and persuasive that John Grisham endorsed the book. Notably, Grisham had never before offered an endorsement for an author who was seeking a publisher.
Following their presentations, the speakers dialogued with community stakeholders about human trafficking in Indianapolis.
